The Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid has received this Friday a package with alleged traces of blood, which has activated a large police deployment in the vicinity of the diplomatic legation.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko told Ukrinform that the package is similar to those received in recent hours by embassies and consulates in several European countries. «Investigations are underway,» he noted.
The embassy in Madrid was already the scene of another alert on Wednesday, following the sending of a device with pyrotechnic material that caused minor injuries to a worker.
The Ministry of the Interior has confirmed that a total of six packages containing pyrotechnic material with a mechanism that causes a «sudden flame deflagration» when opened have been sent to different institutions. The first of these was sent on November 24 to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. The Audiencia Nacional has taken over the investigation.
