UK Labour Party leader Keir Starmer on Monday will back plans to shift power away from the political center of Westminster to the regions in what would constitute the «biggest ever transfer of power» from the country’s Parliament.

The Labour Party has indicated that the main element involves the massive transfer of power from Westminster to its local areas, as «the center has failed to deliver.»

«At the next election, Labour will stand firm on the promise of new powers for towns, cities, regions and nations to revive our economy, while weeding out the unaccountable in Westminster and restoring confidence in our politics,» the Labour leader has explained in an article published in ‘The Guardian’ newspaper.

Labour has pointed to the abolition of the Lords, rules to «end the undue influence of foreign wealth and money, and prevent MPs from working part-time».

«We have an unbalanced economy, which makes too little use of the talents of too few people in too few places,» Starmer said, as reported in the newspaper.

«We will have higher standards in public life, a wider distribution of power and opportunity, and better economic growth that benefits everyone, wherever they are. By setting our sights higher, wider and better, we can build a better future together,» says the British politician.

Starmer will join former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Monday for the launch of the Commission on the Future of Britain, which makes recommendations on reform of the House of Lords, devolution of power and the future of the union.

Brown, who has launched a report on the future of the country, recommends reforms to «clean up politics.» These measures will be consulted within the party to decide on their acceptance, reports News Sky.
