The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has approved the declaration of catastrophe in the state of Florida due to the passage of hurricane ‘Nicole’, which began to form on November 7.
In a statement released by the White House, the U.S. President has ordered the assistance of federal funds to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts to address the emergency conditions caused by the storm.
With the statement, Biden has directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency Administration (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security to make federal funds available to those affected in Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Putnam, Saint Johns and Volusia counties.
It will also provide grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
The federal funding will also serve to mitigate potential risks throughout the state in the event of future hurricanes, Biden said in the letter.
