The King of Morocco, Mohamed VI, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, have spoken on the phone after the clash between the teams of the two countries at the World Cup in Qatar, which ended in victory for the French team.
The Moroccan monarch congratulated Macron on the victory of the French team, in a round of telephone contacts that also led him to speak with the national coach, Walid Regragui, whom he wanted to thank personally for the good performance of the team throughout the tournament, according to the official news agency MAP.
Morocco and France have experienced in recent months a series of diplomatic tensions dating back to 2021, when the French government announced a drastic reduction in the number of visas. However, Moroccan media anticipate a rapprochement that could materialize in January with a trip by Macron to the Alaouite kingdom.
