The Russian Embassy in Washington has insisted that if the United States eventually supplies Patriot anti-missile systems to Ukraine, this could have «unpredictable consequences» and lead to a situation of increased insecurity worldwide.

The Russian diplomatic legation has warned that in case Washington confirms the supply of such weaponry, it will be «another provocative step» on the part of U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration.

The Russian Embassy warned that the constant supply of arms to Ukraine only «strengthens the feeling of impunity» of the «regime» of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and «will push it to commit new crimes against civilians».

«Washington’s strategy causes enormous damage not only to Russian-U.S. relations, but also creates additional risks for global security,» the Russian Embassy warned in a statement.

Along these lines, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday that the possible delivery of Patriot systems will increase the chances of direct U.S. involvement in the conflict, TASS reports.

«All weapons supplied to Ukraine by the West are legitimate military targets for the Russian Armed Forces and will be eliminated or captured, as we have repeatedly stated,» Zakharova reiterated.
