At least 10 people were killed and 14 injured early Friday morning in a fire in a seven-story block of apartments in the French city of Lyon.
At around 3.15 am, the emergency services received a call for a fire in a block of apartments in a street in the suburbs of Lyon, after which 170 firefighters and 65 fire engines of the Fire Department of the French city, as reported by the prefecture of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in a statement.
After extinguishing the fire, the French authorities have counted the deaths of 10 people, five of whom were minors.
Four people are seriously injured and ten others have minor injuries, including two firefighters.
So far, the origin of the fire is unknown, although the French National Police has cordoned off the area and has launched an investigation to clarify what happened.
