The German Ministry of Economics announced Friday that it will make about 100 million euros available to Ukraine under an Energy Union program after the budget committee released the necessary funds.

The German government is thus seeking to redouble its efforts to continue supplying energy to Ukraine in the midst of the Russian invasion of the territory. Thus, it has indicated that Ukraine «must receive the necessary support in the short term to repair the energy infrastructure, the target of attacks by Russian forces».

This aid is in addition to the contribution made by the German Foreign Office, amounting to 30 million euros. In addition, the Ministry of Economy plans to give another 40 million euros to a World Bank fund to finance measures for the «modernization and maintenance» of the Ukrainian transport and electricity network.

In addition, the government has earmarked 20 million euros for a project of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
