At least eight people were killed and more than 20 injured on Friday in an attack carried out by the Ukrainian Army against the locality of Lantratovka, located in the area of the Lugansk region controlled by pro-Russian authorities, according to sources of the emergency services of this administration.
These sources, quoted by the Russian news agency TASS, have indicated that «a building has been destroyed» and added that «there could be more people under the rubble», so it is not excluded that the death toll could increase during the next hours.
The Joint Center for War Crimes Control and Coordination of Ukraine has indicated during the day that Ukrainian troops have used a multiple launch rocket system (HIMARS) to attack Lantratovka at around 4.10 a.m. (local time).
Russia announced in September the annexation of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporiyia, all partially occupied after the invasion, unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The decision was rejected by Kiev and the international community.
