At least three people have died and 17 others have been injured after an unusually large wave hit the seafront and swept them inland in the southeastern South African city of Durban.
Following a call to emergency services, medical services in Durban have counted three lifeless bodies and treated the 17 injured people at the scene and then transferred them to nearby hospitals, local newspaper ‘Citizen’ has reported.
According to a spokesman for the ambulance service, Robert Mckenzie, the injured were in «serious and critical» condition when the emergency services arrived.
