
At least 16 Indian military personnel, including three officers, have been killed when the truck in which they were traveling plunged into a gorge in Sikkim, in the north of the country at the foot of the Himalayas.
The truck was part of a three-vehicle convoy traveling from the town of Chatten in the direction of Thangu.
According to the Army statement, the vehicle slipped in the middle of the road while making a sharp downhill turn.
At least four military personnel are known to have survived and have already been evacuated by helicopter, according to the statement carried by NDTV.
