The Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo reported Wednesday the location of a new grandchild who disappeared during the dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983), the 132nd they have identified since the organization began its activity in 1977.
The organization has released a statement on its website where they have announced the news and have summoned the media to a press conference in Buenos Aires where they will announce the identity of the 132nd grandchild.
«2022 thus ends with the resolution of a new (case) that renews the hopes of this path of truth, memory, justice and identity. We hope that 2023 will welcome us with many more encounters,» added the organization.
Less than a week ago, last Thursday, the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo announced the location of another grandchild who disappeared during the dictatorship, a news that for the Argentine president himself, Alberto Fernandez, meant «infinite joy».
Before these last two identifications, the organization spent a long period of more than three years, since June 2019, without being able to locate any grandchild missing during the dictatorial rule of Jorge Rafael Videla.
Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo is a Human Rights organization founded in 1977 that aims to locate all children who disappeared during the last military dictatorship.
