Brazil’s President Luz Inácio Lula da Silva held an emergency meeting with his ministers on Sunday to discuss the situation in Brasilia, where a mob of demonstrators stormed the headquarters of Congress, the Planalto presidential palace and the Federal Supreme Court to demand a coup d’état.
Lula, who is in Araraquara, Sao Paulo, held a meeting by videoconference with the Ministers of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro, of Justice, Flavio Dino, and of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha.
Lula traveled to Sao Paulo to see first hand the damage caused last week by the heavy rains, which caused the death of six people.
The president had called a press conference which was suspended after reports of the entrance of the Bolsonaristas into the Congress headquarters. Lula is accompanied by the Ministers of Labor, Luiz Marinho, of Cities, Jader Filho, and of National Development, Waldez Góes.
