
At least ten members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas and dissidents of the defunct FARC were killed on Wednesday after several hours of clashes between the two armed groups in Arauca, eastern Colombia.
According to RCN Radio, residents of rural areas affected by the violence have reported the fatal clashes on social networks, in which alias «Solin», who is responsible for the finances of the FARC dissidence operating in the area, reported RCN Radio.
The clashes between the two armed groups are also taking place at a time when they are in negotiations with the Colombian government. In the case of the ELN, a dialogue table has been set up, the next round of which will take place in Mexico to, among other points, address a bilateral ceasefire.
Regarding FARC dissidents, those of Segunda Marquetalia and Estado Mayor Central have agreed to a bilateral ceasefire and their intention to deepen possible negotiations to join President Gustavo Petro’s total peace plan.
