Brazil’s Federal Police have arrested Ana Priscila Azevedo, who is considered one of the organizers of Sunday’s attack on institutions in Brasilia, in which thousands of supporters of Jair Bolsonaro stormed the seat of the Presidency, the Congress and the Supreme Court.
Azevedo, who can be seen in several videos on social networks inciting the assailants to «seize power», was arrested on Tuesday by order of the Supreme Court in the municipality of Luziania, in Goiás, and transferred to Brasília.
She is one of the 1,500 people who have already been arrested for Sunday’s events, among them also Anderson Torres, a former security secretary of the capital and Bolsonaro’s last justice minister.
Her presence in videos and images during the assault are numerous, according to Brazilian media, from the ramp of the Congress, through the Planalto Palace to the camp that was erected near the Army headquarters, where hundreds of people were installed in anticipation of a military coup.
A day before the acts, considered «coupist» and «terrorist» by the three assaulted powers, Azevedo took to social networks to make his umpteenth call to «besiege» the headquarters of the institutions, saying that «caravans coming from all over Brazil» will make «Babylon fall».
Meanwhile, Bolsonaro continues in the United States, where he has had to be admitted from recurring abdominal pains after the stabbing he was the victim of in the middle of the 2018 election campaign. Several congressmen are proposing the elaboration of a special commission in both chambers to analyze his degree of involvement in these attacks and have demanded the Supreme Court to order his extradition.
