The Bucharest Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected the appeal filed by former boxer and streamer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate, who must remain in custody until February 27.
The Romanian justice, according to the court records, has rejected the appeals of the Tate brothers as «unfounded». The same decision, which is now final, has been applied to the two accomplices in the case, Georgiana Naghel and the ex-cop Alexandra Luana, according to the newspaper ‘Libertatea’.
Thus, the Tate brothers, accused by the country’s Prosecutor’s Office of having formed an organized criminal group, will remain in custody until February 27 after a Romanian court extended the measure for another month.
The Romanian Prosecutor’s Office accuses the two brothers of forming an organized criminal group that recruited, housed and forced women to create pornographic materials for distribution.
With the help of two other Romanian nationals – also arrested in this raid – the alleged criminal organization lured women in the United States and the United Kingdom to Romania, feigning amorous reciprocity and promising a marriage relationship.
The arrest took place after the ex-boxer posted a video on social networks and in which he responded to a taunt from young environmentalist Greta Thunberg, all while eating pizza from a popular Romanian pizzeria chain.
Following this, the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) issued an arrest warrant for Tate and his brother, so special troops of the Gendarmerie were mobilized and entered their villa and arrested them.
