The Prime Minister of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita, announced on Friday her resignation after nearly a year and a half in office, without the reasons for the decision, which also implies the resignation of the entire Executive.
«Dear citizens, after a year and a half as head of this government, the time has come for me to announce my resignation,» she said at a press conference after a meeting with the country’s president, Maia Sandu, as reported by the Moldovan news portal Unimedia.
Minutes earlier, MP Radu Marian had indicated that the members of the Executive and the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) faction in Parliament had been summoned for an emergency meeting at the Presidency and revealed that the purpose of the meeting was to carry out a reshuffle of the Government.
Gavrilita took office on August 6 at the head of a government composed of thirteen ministers after receiving the support of the 61 PAS deputies. However, his mandate has been marked by instability, with the resignation of five ministers and deputy ministers, and by the war in Ukraine.
