The Sakharov Prize 2022 winner, Yaroslav Bozhko, has defended on Wednesday that Ukraine «will join the European Union and NATO», during a visit in Barcelona a few days before a year of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine with the invasion of Russian troops.

This is what he said after meeting in the Generalitat with the President of the Catalan Government, Pere Aragonès; the Minister of Foreign Action and European Union, Meritxell Serret; the Consul of Ukraine in Barcelona, Artem Vorobyov, and the head of the Office of the European Parliament in Barcelona, Sergi Barrera.

«After a year of war, we should understand that victory alone is not what we need. We must create a new agenda based on the fight against imperialism, against all attempts to divide Europeans,» Bozhko claimed.

The also spokesman for the Yellow Ribbon Civil Resistance Movement assured that Russia is using «a huge hybrid arsenal», both in military and political aspects, and warned that it is not only a war against Ukraine but also against the West.

RUSSIA USES «HYBRID WEAPONRY»

«We have had a Russian mafia in European countries that has used this hybrid weaponry,» defended Bozhko, who criticized that there are extreme left and extreme right movements in Europe that do not want to see a more united and strong Europe, according to him.

He assured that Russia «creates its networks of spies, who work on different issues, of industrial economic and even ecological intelligence», for which he once again claimed that Europe should create a security agenda and a security architecture that includes Ukraine as one of its main pieces.

Bozhko affirmed that Europeans should learn from the lessons of Ukraine and vice versa, and warned that «this may not be the last war», for which he considers it necessary to be prepared, and added that Ukraine would like to help Europe to prepare for the next crisis.
