Authorities in the Moldovan separatist region of Transnistria said Thursday that they have managed to foil an attempt against their president, Vadim Krasnoselski, allegedly by members linked to Ukrainian intelligence.
The Ministry of State Security of the region has announced that the «assassination attempt» has been avoided and has pointed out that the instructions to carry out the plot came from Kiev.
He also pointed out that the alleged suspects have been detained and reportedly confessed to their plans, as reported by the newspaper ‘Ziarul National’. Criminal cases have been opened against all of them», sources of the said Ministry have indicated.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the region has also affirmed that the plan included the use of a car bomb and that the attack was to be perpetrated in the center of Tiraspol, the capital of Transnistria, where they expected to cause »numerous victims».
