Florida Governor Ron Desantis, a Republican, said Monday that he will not get involved in what he called a »manufactured circus,» referring to the possible indictment for bribery of a porn actress by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
»I have no interest in getting involved in some kind of manufactured circus by some Soros district attorney,» DeSantis said in reference to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whom he accuses of being funded by billionaire George Soros.
»He’s trying to make a political show,» added the governor, who is expected to challenge Trump for the Republican Party nomination for the 2024 presidential election, as reported by the ‘Miami Herald’ newspaper.
However, he added that he does not know »what is behind paying hush money to a porn actress»: »I just can not talk about it,» he said.
For his part, Trump has quickly responded to DeSantis, through his social network Truth Social, indicating that the governor »will probably find out about the false accusations and false stories at some point in the future, as he grows older, wiser and better known».
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York offered Trump to testify in the framework of a case of alleged bribery of actress Stormy Daniels to buy her silence about an extramarital affair, materializing the idea of criminal charges against him.
The former president assured this weekend that he will be arrested this Tuesday in the framework of this investigation, citing an »illegal leak», without giving details about its origin. He also urged his supporters to mobilize in response to this announcement.
