The presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, respectively, will meet on Monday with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian at a trilateral meeting to be held in the Russian city of Sochi where the sides plan to address the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
The negotiations will be held «at the initiative of the Russian side,» the Kremlin said in a statement. The aim of the talks is to implement the agreements reached by the three countries in 2020 and 2021 in a bid to «strengthen stability and security» in the region.
«Issues such as the resumption and development of trade, economy and transport will be addressed by the three sides,» the Russian government has said, Interfax news agency has reported.
Pashinian himself said on Friday that he was ready to solve the country’s conflict with Azerbaijan and said that the Armenian government has given its approval to the proposal presented by Russia – which mediates the peace talks – to solve the dispute, a matter that he is ready to have «confirmed in Sochi».
