The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has somewhat sarcastically denounced that the Russian Armed Forces have launched a new offensive «on the occasion of Halloween» on Monday, and appealed to «Saint Javelin and Saint HIMARS», two of the defense systems available to Ukrainian troops.
«On the occasion of Halloween, the Russians have decided to carry out another act of terror with missiles. But it is All Saints’ Day. Saint Javelin and Saint HIMARS will subdue the evil spirits,» the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on its profile on the social network Twitter.
With this publication, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has made use of the words ‘Saint Javelin’ and ‘Saint HIMARS’, two expressions popularized in social networks among Ukrainian-friendly sectors that praise the effectiveness of both defense systems supplied to Kiev.
The Javelin is a type of anti-tank missile supplied by the United States to Ukraine in the framework of the war. HIMARS, on the other hand, are multiple launch rocket systems, also supplied by Washington.
Both expressions were popularized especially during the early stages of the war, when Russia launched its offensive against a country that at that time did not have the defensive capabilities it has today. The United States has been one of the countries that has sent the most weapons to Ukraine.
