A Moscow court has fined the encyclopedic portal Wikipedia a new fine of two million rubles (more than 32,500 euros) for refusing to remove articles about the invasion of Ukraine that Russia considers untrue.
The Russian authorities issued a statement demanding Wikipedia to remove two articles related to the war in Ukraine, although the portal’s management has not complied with Moscow’s demands, as reported by the TASS news agency.
That protocol was drawn up in response to the article «Non-violent resistance of the Ukrainian civilian population during the Russian invasion», and for another article that delves into the causes and consequences of the war in Eastern Europe.
With this new sanction, Wikipedia has now accumulated fines amounting to seven million rubles (just under 114,000 euros). The two previous sanctions were also imposed for the dissemination of allegedly false information related to the war.
