The Russian government has sent to the front lines in Ukraine some 87,000 of the 300,000 reservists called up under the partial mobilization decree imposed by President Vladimir Putin to bolster military capacity following the latest defeats on the ground.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed the figure on Tuesday, noting that those who have gone to fight in Ukraine had previously received training to try to prepare them for deployment to a combat zone, according to the Interfax news agency.
The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has also considered the decree of partial mobilization «executed», reports the TASS agency.
The government has indicated that the isolation offices will only recruit volunteers from now on. One of those responsible for recruitment in the Armed Forces, Sergei Pobirokhin, has stated that more than 75,000 people have voluntarily registered to participate in the conflict.
