Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assured on Tuesday that his government will do everything possible to supply electricity and heat to the cities, while reminding that Russia «will do everything possible» to prevent it.
«We will do everything possible to give people electricity and heating this winter. But we must understand that Russia will do everything possible to destroy the normality of life,» the Ukrainian leader said in his daily message to the Ukrainian population.
Zelensky pointed out that the government is carrying out restoration works continuously and without interruption, also in the territories «liberated from the occupants».
In particular, more than 20,000 people in the Kharkiv and Donbas regions have regained gas supply, while gas supply is in the process of restoration in such cities as Vovchansk and Balakliya, both in Kharkiv.
In this regard, the President of Ukraine reported the possibility of access to water supply «for all Ukrainian consumers, as well as the possibility of obtaining electricity supply for the vast majority of the country.
However, Zelensky accused Russia of «spending on energy terror», assuring that the attacks carried out by Russia on Monday on the Ukrainian territory could have paid the monthly pensions of more than two million Russians.
«Instead of overcoming poverty in their country, the Russian leadership spends everything to avoid admitting the historical mistake they made with this war against Ukraine,» the Ukrainian leader said.
«They are useless on the battlefield. Ukrainian soldiers have already proved it. But it takes time, effort, patience to prove that even the hope of winter will not come true for Russian terrorists. I am sure that we will overcome it,» Zelensky added.
