North Korea’s Foreign Ministry on Friday denounced «irresponsible and reckless» acts by the United States and urged Washington to «immediately stop» the combined air drills dubbed ‘Vigilant Storm’.

In this regard, it has warned the Biden Administration that it must cease these military maneuvers «if it does not want a serious situation to occur that will harm its own security interests,» as reported by the KCNA news agency.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry has pointed out that the U.S. actions are «a serious encroachment on the security of a sovereign state and a shameless challenge to the international community’s desire for peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the region.»

«The U.S. ignored the demands of North Korea and regional countries (…) instead, it responded by staging combined air drills of aggression under the pretext of deterring and coping with any provocation,» he has expressed.

In this way, according to Pyongyang, the «hysteria of military confrontation of the United States» has led it to «extend the training period, originally scheduled until November 4», as well as to «convene a meeting of the United Nations Security Council», another action it called «provocative».

«The military drills of the North Korean armed forces after the U.S. launched the combined air drill ‘Vigilant Storm’ in collusion with its vassal forces are a reaction and a warning of action in the face of hostile provocations,» he specified.

The United States and South Korea began the first large-scale air exercise in nearly five years on Monday, which will last until Friday and for which more than 240 aircraft have been mobilized. These moves come amid fears that Kim Jong Un will carry out a nuclear test.

South Korean authorities have mobilized about 80 fighter jets on Friday after detecting a large deployment of more than 180 aircraft of the North Korean Armed Forces in various parts of the country and after days of numerous ballistic missile launches.

The South Korean military said the North Korean aircraft, including fighters and bombers, were detected between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (local time) over several islands and areas off the east and west coasts of the Asian country.

In addition, the North Korean Armed Forces launched three more missiles into the waters of the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, after it launched an intercontinental missile and two short-range missiles that could carry nuclear warheads.
