Ukrainian police help residents of the Donetsk town of Marinka – POLICÍA NACIONAL DE UCRANIA

The Ukrainian National Police on Thursday carried out the evacuation of the entire population of the town of Marinka, in the Donetsk region, after Ukrainian authorities decreed that it was dangerous to remain in the area due to constant attacks by Russian troops.

A team of the Ukrainian National Police called ‘White Angels’ has appealed to the population of the town – which before the war had 10,000 inhabitants – to leave, helping them to escape from the bombardment, according to a press release.

«Marinka is constantly under direct enemy attack. Not a single building survived in the town. During eight months of full-scale war, the Police ‘White Angels’ team has helped people escape from the shelling. At present, there is no civilian population left in Marinka,» reads the missive released by the Ukrainian National Police.

Nevertheless, the officers have urged the inhabitants of Krasnogorrivka, a locality near Marinka where there are still 800 residents – where once there were more than 16,000 – «not to wait any longer to leave and save their lives and health».

«In Krasnogorrivka, which is being destroyed by Russian troops, there are still about 800 residents. There is no water, electricity and gas supply. Police officers are involved in evacuation, rescuing the wounded, responding to reports of unexploded shells and delivering humanitarian items. The ‘White Angels’ are the only emergency services operating in the city whose help residents can count on,» said the National Police.
