Trump casts doubt on future election results in Pennsylvania, claims election is rigged

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as several Republican Party politicians, have cast doubt on the future election results of the ‘midterm’ in the state of Pennsylvania, where the Democratic and Republican candidates are tied.

Thus, the New York magnate has once again questioned the legitimacy of the electoral processes in the United States and has affirmed that the elections «are rigged».

Trump has echoed through social networks of an article disseminated through extreme right-wing websites that points to the lack of data on votes without giving specific details about it, according to information from the CNN television network.

In 2020, both Trump and his allies tried to discredit the election results of the presidential election, which gave the victory to the current White House tenant, Joe Biden. Now, in the run-up to the midterm elections, some Republicans have used similar rhetoric without citing specific sources.

The state of Pennsylvania is vitally important because it could determine who controls the U.S. Senate. Last week, the state’s chief election official, Leigh Chapman, indicated that it could take «days» to complete the vote count in the area. Since then, Republican candidate Doug Mastriano has pushed conspiracy theories about fraudulent processes and «rigged» results.

He has been joined by Sen. Ted Cruz, who has emphasized the idea that «only in Democratic states does it take days to get the vote recount going.» «The rest of the country seems to be managing things well on election night,» he said.

However, this could be explained by the fact that it is precisely the Democrats who have a larger pool of votes in the big cities, as opposed to the more rural and unpopulated areas that are emerging as Republican strongholds.

Generally, the U.S. electoral authorities do not declare the winners or issue official votes on the same day of the elections, but the media themselves make projections based on the available (albeit incomplete) data.

Since Trump was defeated by Biden in the 2020 presidential election, some far-right figures have insisted that the election «was rigged» since Biden did not have sufficient support.

However, election authorities point out that the Democratic candidate won by more than 80,000 votes despite conspiracy theories that have been swirling around the results in cities in various parts of the country, such as Detroit.
