Texas Republican state Sen. Ted Cruz was hit in the head with a beer can Monday while at a parade in Houston for the Houston Astros’ World Series baseball victory.
Cruz was on a float while celebrating the baseball team’s victory when a passerby hit him in the head with a beer can, Houston police said in a statement.
The senator did not require medical attention as he was not injured. Police officers also arrested the man who threw the can and charged him with felony assault. So far, the age of the man and the motivation for the aggression have not been revealed.
«As always, I am grateful to the Houston Police and Capitol Police for their quick action,» Cruz said in a message on the social network Twitter.
«I am also thankful that the clown who threw his beer had a noodle for an arm,» he added, alluding to the fact that he did not suffer any injuries.
