The first results of the U.S. mid-term elections have not provided changes in the democratic and republican benches, by registering several reelections among legislators, according to the main U.S. media.

Republican Rand Paul, senator from Kentucky, has been re-elected for this next term. In South Carolina, Tim Scott who has been a senator for the Republican Party since 2013, would have won against his Democratic rival.

In Alabama, Republican Katie Britt has won over Democrat Will Boyd, thus becoming the first woman to elect this State to the Upper House.

In addition, Senator Marco Rubio won re-election for the State of Florida, winning a third term.

In Oklahoma -the only state from which two senators were elected instead of one- Republicans James Lankford -in office since 2015- and Markwayne Mullin, who represented that state in the House of Representatives, have been reelected, becoming the first Native American senator from Oklahoma in a century.

Meanwhile, in Vermont, Democrat Peter Welch –who had held the position of representative in the Lower House since 2007– will replace Patrick Leahy, who is retiring from office, after almost 50 years as a legislator.
