Russian authorities have claimed Thursday to have prevented a terrorist attack on an administrative building in the city of Yekaterinburg aimed at recruiting people in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) department in the Sverdlovsk region has detailed that a 47-year-old Russian citizen has been detained following an operation by «military and counterintelligence agencies,» Russian news agency TASS has reported.
He detailed that the suspect «intended to perpetrate a terrorist act against an administrative facility in the Kirovsky district of Yekaterinburg», before pointing out that five incendiary devices were seized in the operation.
The FSB has further stated that the suspect «supports organizations and movements recognized as terrorist and extremist in the country,» without giving further details. «With his actions, he planned to spread panic among the population and destabilize the work of municipal and regional authorities,» it added.
