Authorities in Turkey announced early Monday morning that they have arrested the woman suspected of carrying out the suicide bombing on Istanbul’s busy Istiklal Avenue in Turkey.

Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu told the media that the person who allegedly left the bomb that caused an explosion that has left at least six dead and 81 injured has been detained by the Istanbul Police Department.

«The person who threw the bomb has been detained. The PKK/PYD terrorist organization is in the frame of our findings. In the near future, we will show them a reward in which those who caused us this pain can experience more and more pain,» Soylu said in statements picked up by TRT TV channel.

The leader of the ministerial portfolio has linked through this message the attacker to the PKK armed group, whom he has pointed out as ultimately responsible for the incident.

«The face of terror is bitter, but we will continue this fight to the end regardless of the cost. Especially the insincerity of our so-called allies, who hide all terrorists who seem to be our friends in their own country, or give life to terrorists in the areas they occupy, in the areas they rule, and send them money from their own senates, is obviously insincere,» Soylu has lamented.

A suicide bombing on Istiklal Avenue on Sunday killed six people, while 81 were injured, two of them in serious condition.

Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay confirmed that it was an attack in which a woman, a «kamikaze», detonated the explosive.

Istanbul has been hit by several blasts in the past, including a suicide bombing in Istiklal in 2016 by a suspected Islamic State member that claimed the lives of five people.

In the same year, Kurdish Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militias, considered by Turkey to be a terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for a bombing that killed 38 people outside a soccer stadium in the Besiktas area of central Istanbul.
