Former U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that he sees «a lot of problems on Twitter» and that his intention is to stay on his social network, Truth Social, as he sees no reason to return to the platform acquired by Elon Musk.
«I hear we’re getting a big vote to go back to Twitter as well. I don’t see it because I don’t see any reason to do it,» Trump has maintained at the meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas, as collected by Bloobmerg.
This was the Republican politician’s response to the poll launched by the businessman on his Twitter profile in which he invited users to decide whether to reinstate the former US president’s account or not.
One hour before the question closes after a 24-hour deadline to participate, the poll has more than 14.5 million votes and the ‘yes’ vote has 51.8 percent of the support.
The U.S. politician drove the Truth Social platform after his profile was banned on Twitter for being considered to have encouraged the rape of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, days before Joe Biden took office as president.
«Truth Social has been very, very powerful, very, very strong, and I will stay there,» Trump has maintained, while noting that many of his platform’s users will also not return to the social network bought by Musk.
Despite showing his reluctance, Trump said he liked that Musk had bought the social network for $44 billion because «he tends to like the characters», although he stressed that the platform has «terrible problems» such as fake accounts.
