The European Parliament’s website suffered a cyber-attack on Wednesday, the European institution itself confirmed, in an incident that coincides with the decision to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
«The availability of the website is impacted from outside due to high levels of external traffic. This traffic is related to a DDOS attack», has reported on social networks the spokesman of the European Parliament, Jaume Duch.
In this regard, he reported that the technical teams of the institution are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
This incident has been registered just a few hours after the European Parliament has approved this Wednesday to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism in a resolution that has had the support of the majority groups of the House.
With 494 votes in favor, 58 against and 44 abstentions, MEPs «recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism using terrorist means» and ask the EU-27 to take steps at the national level and the European institutions to generate the legal framework for the designation.
