Polish prime minister accuses Russia of forcing «artificial famine» at Holodomor commemoration

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has joined the Ukrainian authorities during the commemoration of the Holodomor catastrophe and blamed Moscow for a possible «artificial famine» as a consequence of the invasion as it happened almost a century ago.

«We gathered in the 1990s on the anniversary of the Holodomor, which was artificially created by the Russian communist regime. Today, we are about to see another artificial famine caused by Russia in the countries of Africa and Southeast Asia,» he warned, referring to the famine created in the 1930s under the leadership of Iosif Stalin, which led to the so-called Ukrainian Holocaust (Holodomor).

For the Polish Prime Minister, a blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russia, now open thanks to the indirect agreement reached between Kiev and Moscow for the exit of grain and fertilizers, would mean the blockade of humanitarian opportunities.

«There can be only one outcome in the war Russia has unleashed against Ukraine: either Ukraine will win, or all of Europe will lose. Europe saw the threat from Russia too late, so we cannot delay aid to Ukraine,» said the head of the Polish government, who took part in these commemorations accompanied by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmihal and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simontye, members of the trilateral cooperation body of the Lublin Triangle.

For the Polish Prime Minister, the war will end when «Ukraine takes back every house, every school, every hospital, every bridge and road». «Poland and Lithuania,» he assured in statements reported by Ukrinform, «will support Ukraine as long as necessary.»
