Former U.S. President Donald Trump has disowned the attendance of Nick Fuentes, accused of anti-Semitism, at a private dinner that the tycoon organized at his mansion in Mar-a-Lago (Florida) with the rapper Ye (Kanye West), himself implicated in another recent controversy for offensive comments against Jews.

The Anti-Defamation League of the USA considers Fuentes a «white supremacist» who has called to fight the «control of the Jews» and «jokingly denied the existence of the Holocaust and compared the Jews incinerated by the Nazis to cookies in an oven».

Trump confirmed the dinner with Ye, who reportedly offered to join the tycoon’s presidential bid as a vice presidential candidate. «I told him he shouldn’t run for president,» Trump has made known in a message posted on his Social Truth network. «Also, I didn’t know who Nick Fuentes was either,» he added.

A later statement from Trump picked up by CBS News reiterated that the rapper «arrived with a guest he didn’t know and knew nothing about.»

Trump’s ambassador to Israel during his tenure, David Friedman, expressed on Twitter his outrage at the event. «To my friend Donald Trump, you’re better than this. Even a social visit from an anti-Semite like Kanye West and human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable. I urge you to repudiate and relegate these throwaways to the dustbin of history where they belong,» he tweeted Friday.
