Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has accused Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of «using Ukraine» to play «his own game with the European Union» for his own interests.
Kuleba, who pointed out that Orbán «continues to play the same game as always» with Brussels, insisted that Ukrainians and Hungarians «will continue to be friends» in spite of this. Thus, he said that «it is necessary to win the war» and reminded that this «is in the interests of Hungary and Ukraine».
Orbán has repeatedly shown his disagreement with the EU sanctions policy against Russia in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine and has stressed that some of these measures «do more harm to the EU than to Russia».
Hungary has also twice decided to block the inclusion of Patriarch Cyril, the top representative of the Orthodox Church in Russia, on the EU sanctions list.
In this regard, he has addressed the Hungarians themselves, whom he has urged to «disregard media reports about the alleged enmity of Ukrainians towards Hungarians».
