Biden chides Putin that his invasion of Ukraine is «sickening»

U.S. President Joe Biden has reproached his Russian counterpart that the war declared on Ukraine at the end of February is «sickening» and demanded the departure of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory to end the conflict.

In the framework of the visit of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, to Washington, Biden has recognized that although the Russian withdrawal from Ukraine would be the most rational way to end the war, Putin «seems that he is not going to do that» and is «paying a very high price for it».

«He is paying a very high price for not doing that, but he is inflicting incredible carnage on the civilian population of Ukraine. Bombing kindergartens, hospitals and daycare centers is sickening,» Biden chided, CNN reported.

Asked about his intentions to initiate contacts with Putin, Biden acknowledged that he has no immediate plans to engage in conversation with the Russian president, but said he was «ready to talk» if Moscow proves to be looking for a way to end the war.

«If that is the case, in consultation with my French and NATO friends, I would be happy to sit down with Putin to see what he wants, what he has in mind. He hasn’t yet,» the White House tenant explained.

So, while this happens or not, Biden has advocated to continue to support the Ukrainian people, a position also defended by President Macron himself.
