The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has met this Friday with the Democratic Alliance of the Venezuelan opposition in order to advance in the dialogue for the construction of future electoral scenarios, as detailed in a statement of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

Through work tables, which will be extended for a period of 30 days, representatives of the Government and the opposition will discuss an agenda of prioritized issues with future projection.

«We have given ourselves 30 days to be able to define the most important issues in the economic, social, political and electoral areas (…) And that from those 30 days a document comes out where we can present to the country what the Venezuelan opposition sectors and the sectors of the Bolivarian Revolution agree on», pointed out the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, from the Miraflores Palace.

The president of the Venezuelan Parliament, who also acts as head of delegation at the dialogue table, has pointed out that both parties will focus their efforts on addressing the social agenda, as detailed in the PSUV’s letter.

Likewise, Rodriguez has reiterated that they will raise issues of economic interest «which are of transcendental importance for the Venezuelan population and, undoubtedly, the political and electoral issues with a view to the years to come, where we will have presidential, governors, mayors and National Parliament elections».

On his part, the Secretary General of the opposition political party COPEI, Juan Carlos Alvarado, has highlighted that the meeting has been framed within «constitutional principles», at the same time he has said that among the topics discussed, the «economic, social, political and electoral issues that help to continue on the path of peace and stability of the country».

«Today we are here to identify the problems of the nation and to commit ourselves to a constitutional political pact that will allow us to resume in the next 30 days the path that the Venezuelan people need», he pointed out.
