Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called for a «revolutionary reconstruction of the country’s cultural system» as protests against Iran’s government increase pressure against the authorities after several months of demonstrations, general strikes and protests since the death of young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in September.
Khamenei has called for «correct engineering» to reform the Iranian «cultural structure» through «constant vigilance and accurate knowledge of cultural weaknesses».
«With the help of the intellectual foundations of the Revolution and the active youth, that revolutionary culture and spirit can be revived once again and a great cultural movement can be created,» Khamenei said, Mehr Agency reported.
In this regard, the ayatollah called for providing solutions to promote «correct and progressive» statements, after «observing and recognizing false weaknesses in various fields».
These statements have come after there have been requests by the Iranian Prosecutor’s Office to dismantle the so-called ‘Morality Police’, while the Prosecutor General indicated that he was reviewing the compulsory veil law.
