The Governance Commission of the Mexican Senate has made around one hundred modifications to the five laws that make up the electoral reform promoted by Andrés Manuel López Obrador and known as Plan B, which in the next week must be discussed and approved in commission and later in the plenary.
The working group, chaired by Monica Fernandez of Morena, will now send the document to the members of the Commission of Governance and Legislative Studies, which is in charge of elaborating the analysis and issuing the opinion that will be passed to the House. Likewise, the Justice Commission will have to pronounce on the matter.
According to ‘Milenio’, it is expected that the section which would allow parties which did not obtain 3 percent of votes in the elections to remain registered in the official list of political formations will be eliminated.
The final document could be approved this Monday in commissions and be discussed on Tuesday in the plenary of the Chamber, before the end of the session on December 15.
