At least three military personnel were killed Wednesday by a bomb explosion in the town of Tarmiya, north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, with no claim of responsibility so far.
Among the dead is a commander of the 59th Army Brigade, while two other soldiers have been wounded, as reported on its account on the social network Twitter the Security Media Cell, which provides coverage of operations of the Iraqi security forces.
Islamic State has increased its operations and attacks against security forces and civilians over the past few months, despite its territorial defeat in December 2017 in Iraq, prompting authorities to launch several operations against the jihadist group.
