U.S. President Joe Biden received his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, at the White House on Wednesday in his first trip outside Ukraine since the outbreak of war on February 24.
Zelenski, dressed in his usual olive-colored clothes, posed with Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, at the gates of the White House, leaving a historic image that shows the relationship between the two countries and their opposition to Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
Just half an hour earlier, the Ukrainian president had landed on the outskirts of Washington, as Zelenski himself confirmed on his official channel on the social network Telegram.
The Ukrainian president plans to hold a meeting with Biden in which, according to the National Security Council communication spokesman, John Kirby, they will discuss economic and military issues, as well as a hypothetical peace with Russia.
Later, Zelenski will give a speech on Capitol Hill at a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
