The progressive group Juntos por el Perú (Together for Peru) announced on Wednesday that it will file a constitutional complaint before the country’s Congress against President Dina Boluarte for the alleged violation of human rights during the protests that are taking place throughout the country.
This was announced during an interview with the radio station RPP by Congresswoman Sigrid Bazán, who assured that the Peruvian president has committed «a constitutional infraction» for allegedly violating the human rights of the demonstrators.
«I am presenting a constitutional accusation project against Mrs. Boluarte for violation of Human Rights, something that I would consider a constitutional infraction», said Bazán, who a week before presented a motion of censure with the now former Prime Minister Pedro Angulo.
«I am already presenting my vote of confidence against an Executive of Mrs. Boluarte that has had no changes at all. Finally, we have joined the voices that she (the Peruvian president) must resign», added the congresswoman of Juntos por el Perú.
In this sense, Bazán has advanced that she will not give the vote of confidence to the new cabinet led by the Prime Minister, Alberto Otárola, who has taken the oath of office this Wednesday.
«What we are seeing in this administration is an absolute divorce with the human being. That nothing is done and rather the Minister of Defense is rewarded with the premiership for murdering people. The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is picking this up,» he said.
However, Juntos Por el Perú has announced that it has presented a bill to try that the Constituent Assembly be submitted to a referendum, so that the population can decide if this figure is applied.
