Brazilian state governors have placed state military forces at the disposal of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in case they are needed to contain protesters who have occupied the Legislative, Executive and Judicial headquarters in Brasilia to demand a coup d’état.
«The Brazilian governors are at the disposal of sending state military forces to support the situation of national normality,» published the National Governors Forum, which brings together the 27 bodies that make up the Brazilian federation.
Likewise, «they demand the purging of the origin of this absurd movement and the adoption of energetic measures against the extremists and those who have allowed, by negligence or convenience, such a situation, as well as the subsequent penalization of those responsible for it».
Bolsonaro’s supporters have taken this Sunday by storm the headquarters of the Congress, the Federal Supreme Court and the Planalto Palace, seat of the Brazilian Presidency. Security forces have already managed to clear the headquarters of the Supreme Court.
