A strong storm has shaken the Portuguese city of Porto this Saturday and has caused the flooding of several streets in the center as well as numerous material damages.
The Emergency and Civil Protection service of the Porto Metropolitan Area said it received more than 150 requests for help in just an hour and a half due to flooding in homes and public roads, with a higher concentration of requests in the city center.
According to the Portuguese news agency Lusa, the heavy rains have fallen in a short period of time and have flooded the entire city of Porto, with greater intensity in the center, through Mouzinho da Silveira street, which connects the São Bento station with Ribeira do Porto.
This area has been particularly damaged by being flooded with mud, gravel and sand from the nearby works being carried out for the expansion of the city’s subway.
In addition, along Mouzinho da Silveira street, the outflow of water has caused several blocks of stones to fall from the roadway, forcing the interruption of traffic from São Bento to Largo de São Domingos.
