Twitter has 80 percent fewer employees since the arrival of new CEO Elon Musk, due to his new business policy and the massive layoffs that took place during his first weeks at the helm of the company.
The company’s internal records state that Twitter’s full-time workforce has shrunk to about 1,300 active employees, including fewer than 550 engineers.
Also, as reported by CNBC, Musk has reportedly authorized the transfer of about 130 employees from other companies he owns, such as Tesla, SpaceX and The Boring Co. to Twitter.
The company’s internal records reflect that about 1,400 former Twitter employees no longer work at the company but continue to be paid. Many of them announced their departures after new CEO Elon Musk formalized hundreds more layoffs by offering an ultimatum of doing «extremely hard» work or leaving the company.
Prior to the entrepreneur’s arrival after buying the social networking company in 2022 for $44 billion, Twitter had 7,500 employees. In early November Musk initiated a policy of mass layoffs and that have led to lawsuits from former employees.
