Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced Saturday that France and Italy intend to deliver Samp/T air defense systems to Ukraine.
«We are in the process of finalizing the delivery of the Samp/T in cooperation with France,» Tajani explained in statements to the newspaper ‘Il Corriere della Sera’.
The Samp/T anti-aircraft system is a joint French-Italian project that began development in the early 2000s. It is considered a flexible and effective system for defense against fighter planes and missiles.
Tajani also referred to «other measures we are working on in secret» that would soon be added to the five Italian aid packages totaling a value of approximately 1 billion euros, he stressed.
