The Colombian Army reported on Sunday the death of a soldier in military operations in the municipality of Istmina, Chocó, when a mine was activated while he was on a mission.
In addition to this victim, identified as Daniel BEcerra Velázquez, three other soldiers were wounded, in compliance with «the mission of guaranteeing the return of the civilian population, after coordination with the Transitional Justice Committee», reports radio station W Radio.
The Colombian Armed Forces have specified that, «in the sector where this terrorist action that violates Human Rights took place», they have also lost war materials, supplies and communications, as a consequence of the attack.
The authorities have recalled that in this area there have been continuous clashes between members of the Ernesto Che Guevara front of the GAO ELN and the substructure Carreteras of the GAO Clan del Golfo, reason for which they denounce «the displacement and confinement of the community».
