Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel will visit Mexico this Saturday, where he will meet with his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as part of a two-day trip that will allow the parties to discuss their bilateral relations.
Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard confirmed that López Obrador will receive Díaz-Canel in the city of Campeche, in the southeast of the country, and pointed out that this is a «high-level» visit.
«There will be various activities and visits, a bilateral meeting and dialogue between the presidents», he explained during a press conference. The office of the Presidency has pointed out in a statement that the arrival is scheduled to take place around 8.00 (local time) on February 11.
López Obrador made a visit to Cuba in May 2022, just before announcing that he would not attend the Summit of the Americas held in Los Angeles, United States, if Washington refused to invite the presidents of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
In July, the two countries signed a health cooperation agreement to send some 600 specialized Cuban doctors to Mexico to provide health care in the country’s most precarious communities.
