The Council of Ministers of the Syrian Government has approved this Friday in extraordinary session the permission for the entry of aid into the earthquake devastated areas under rebel control.
The country’s Prime Minister, Husein Arnous, has approved a distribution plan that paves the way for an urgent delivery of aid supervised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Red Crescent and the United Nations, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA.
The earthquake has taken on catastrophic proportions in the northwest of the country controlled by the rebels, especially in cities such as Salqin, Jindires, Termanin, Sarmada, Jisr al Shughur or Darkush.
The Council of Ministers has also decided to establish a national reconstruction fund for the affected areas to «provide all possible support to the victims, and facilitate the entry of all donations and similar initiatives by all means».
